Great Getaway! A review of South Coast Winery Resort & Spa

My husband and I stayed here Sept.5, 2004 with the massage package. The villas are peppered throughout the vineyard- walk outside your patio and there it is! The resort is still being built, so the restaurant and spa are not complete (they bring in a maggage therapist for you). The massage was a bit pricey for what you get. Still, it was nice when we went, and the resort will be beautiful when completed!

The rooms are exactly how they look on their website- gorgeous, elegant decor, huge bathroom with 2 person Jacuzzi tub and separate 2-headed shower, fireplace, t.v, mini fridge, and patio. The bed was amazing- the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on (even more comfortable than at my own home!)

The winery itself is not as elaborate as other wineries in the area, but the accomodations more than made up for it, and the staff were great!

A great place for a gourmet yet casual dining experience is the Cafe Champagne at the Thornton Winery ($50-75 pp, make sure to make reservations). We loved it!

Overall, this is a great weekend getaway- make sure to check out all their packages.
