Great for business travel A review of Hyatt Regency Dearborn

I just got back from a stay at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn this weekend.

I was there for a trade show/conference on business and it was a great (big) little hotel.

Pros: 1. Great meeting spaces 2. Clean, modern fancy lookin' decor 3. The room (2 doubles) was nicely decorated, the room and bath were clean and despite some people not using their hotel voices, it was very quiet.

4. If you need data ports, they are in room

The hotel has 14 floors and a beautiful rotunda. It is situated across from the Fairlane Towne Center in dearborn, right by the Ford managment buildings (not plants). It isn't the most convenient of places to get to, in fact, late in CONS the directions given to me is listed. There is valet parking, a gift shop, a Hertz rent-a-car in the hotel itself, with cars there (I could imagine this would be most helpful for some), a cafe, and two (hotel priced) restaurants.. oh, and a bar (vodka and tonice $6.00- bottle of bud $5.00)

The staf wasn't overly happy, but polite and they allowed me to check in early. Please be aware, business travelers, that you may only use the credit card you booked with with a faxed authorization if it is under the business name and not in your possession. i had not run in to that before, but I just used mine and all was fine.

Cons: - Our room was not "cleaned" during our 2 night /3 day stay.Meaning, the bath room was replenished, and dirty glasses from the bar the night before were taken out, but our beds were not made, etc.

kind of half and half deal. odd that.

- The directions they gave were awful. Coming from the west, I-96 does NOT have the exit they told me, that exit was on I-275. If you are coming from the west, you best bet is to take 96 to 274/96 back on to 96 to the southfield fwy, go south, exit 6. Even though I asked the "CONCIERGE" when i left for an errand, I still got poor directions. Ask them for a map and you'll get there on your own. Dearborn is a tricky area to drive around.

- This place is a bit out of the way if you are not traveling to this direct area for a purpose. meaning, i wouldn't stay here if you were traveling to the airport (DTW) or something.

-The beds could use a little cushion... but then again... most hotel beds could. Overall it was a very nice, clean, and somewhat fancy (especially the lobby) facilit. Although I did not use it, a co-worker told me the pool and hot tub was nice. It was a good stay that was at a decent price ($119 for the three at a convention rate). Recommended.
