Great find, best place for Big Sur A review of Lucia Lodge
I have stayed at many b&bs and inns and this will be a favorite. We stayed in cabin 8 and the view was just AMAZING. You get to have the crashing waves 300 ft below lull you to sleep and when you wake, you get to see out your window the mountains sloping into the ocean. The cabin is very basic (small bath), clean and cozy. Decor is rustic and charming. The grounds are also great, there is a landing beneath the cabins where they have placed a picnic table - you walk down a pathway surrounded by bright wild flowers, and there is a small hill you can hike up (within 2 minutes); both have astounding unobstructed views.
The staff is friendly and the restuarant was surprisingly good for an inn/lodge. Yes, I agree >$20 for pasta is overpriced, but most restaurants around the area are in that range. We ordered steak (better than at Rocky Point Restuarant) and rock cod. Their desserts were yummy as well.
With other Big Sur lodging choices being motels or the very expensive Post Ranch Inn, I consider this the best choice and will definitely try to return soon.
