Great family place A review of Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel
My daughter, granddaughter, and I stayed at the Sheraton Yankee Clipper 8/9-8/16/03 and found it to be a wonderful place to stay for a family, especially those with younger children. Our room in the tower was very clean and had a great view of the ocean. We rented a refrigerater for $10.00/ night, and each room had a safe for valuables. The only thing missing was a balcony. The staff was courteous and helpful, and the food in the Clipper Steakhouse was excellent. We had the breakfast buffet most days (though the service outside was slower than inside) as well as one of the grilled seafood dinners several times that week. The children's menu was appealing to our six year old. The bar area had a beautiful aquarium with several types of fishes that were featured in the movie, Finding Nemo. The pool area was very clean with delicious light lunches. We usually brought soft drinks from the machines in the hotel's hallways rather than buying them at the poolside bar. The pool area was filled with children of all ages for the younger ones to play with. We met families from all over the world. Beach towels were provided, so there is no need to bring them from home (which we did).
My only complaint was the $5.00 cost to rent chairs at the beach. With the beach right off the pool area, we just planted everything at the pool area and took our towels to the beach. There was really no need for a car. The water taxi is nearby and taxis were readily available.
We also took a shuttle to the airport ($15.00) and to the Sawgrass Mall ($20.00/ adult). There was plenty of shopping and good restaurants within a short taxi/ water taxi ride. We would definitely stay at the Sheraton Yankee Clipper on our next trip to Fort Lauderdale.
