Great disappointment A review of Kirketon Hotel Sydney - by 8Hotels
Stayed there in mid March 2005, falling for the promise of affordable chic and glamour. The lobby may look good in some pictures, but this hotel has some serious flaws. For one, it has no elevator; I had to carry a couple of very heavy bags up two floors, with no help (their staff seems to consist of a single person manning the front desk and one cleaner). The room ("premium") was shabby, the cheap carpet stained, the mattress mushy, the wall-mounted TV like an old Motel 6, no alarm clock, no broaddband internet, and worst of all no natural light -- the small window faced a brick wall 4 feet away (most rooms are like that.) The bathroom was not cleaned during my stay, the toiletries not replenished. I stayed Sunday and Monday, when the restaurant and bar were not operating, so the lobby looked very sad and deserted. The only positive thing was the location, which is really quite convenient.
