Great deal! A review of Courtyard Pittsburgh Downtown
Living outside the city of Pittsburgh by about 25 miles, when we venture in for a true "night out" we tend to stay at a hotel to avoid the drive home. Normally we stay at the Westin (my husband is a SPG Platinum Preferred Member) but since we were "sharing" a room with another couple we decided to stay at the Courtyard due to them having queen beds as opposed to double beds. I love Sonoma Grill (right next door) and have always admired Courtyard based on their lobby and location. Now I can say I admire it from the inside as well! Considering there were 4 adults staying in one room we had PLENTY of towels and pillows even without requesting them. The room was beautiful and spacious with floor to ceiling windows. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the room temperature perfect without us having to touch the thermostat. We had reservations at Isoldi's in the Strip Dist. and wanted to get a taxi so we wouldn't have to drive ~ instead we found out we could get a complimentary ride there from the hotel's shuttle service (which runs til midnight). The hotel also has room service from Sonoma (which is fantastic!) and a separate area for breakfast the next morning. It also has a VERY NICE little "market area" with juices, snacks, beer & wine. Overall, we ALL were very impressed and we are all pretty picky when it comes to quality hotels. While in Pittsburgh, try the following in dining/cocktail establishments: Isoldi's (dinner & bar downstairs/dance club upstairs), FIre House Lounge (cocktails, appetizers & great music), The Harp & Fiddle (Irish Pub with GREAT owners and food & drink - a personal favorite of our group), Roland's, Eleven (for upscale, expensive but excellent dining). Pittsburgh is a terrific place to live and an even better place to visit - just look around a bit and you will find some true "gems"!
