GREAT CHEAP HOTEL! A review of Hotel Duo
On landing at Prague airport it was about a 45 mins very fast taxi drive to the Hotel Duo. The hotel is in Praha 9, which is quite a way out from Praha 1 (the town centre). The hotel is very large and bustling, a bit like a Premier Lodge. The room we had was great, had a fridge, hairdryer in the bathroom and was very clean. The hotel has a few restuarants which we didn't get a chance to try, plus a casino which was over-run with school children most nights! Breakfast was fantastic, with everything available from traditional cereal, to cooked breakfast, cheese & salami's, plus cake & fruit! Our view out of the window looked like a German concentration camp!! Praha 9 landscape isn't pretty, lots of flats with washing hanging out on the balconies. You can get into Prague town centre quite easily on the 187 bus outside the hotel & then the Metro C line into Prague. It can be tempting to not buy a travel ticket as no-one seems to check, but please do as a group who was there the same time as us did end up getting fined about ?8.50 each! It takes about 20-25mins in the daytime to get into town, slightly longer at night. Best to stay out all day, drink beer & roll back to the hotel to the on-site bowling alley where the pints were about 40p each!! A great cheap place to stay but a little too far away from the beauty of Prague!
