Great Boutique Five Star A review of King George Palace
I just got back from staying at the King George II and have to say that it was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. I travel a lot for pleasure and have stayed in some of the best hotels. In Athens I have always stayed at the Grande Bretagne next door and thought I would have GB envy. Not for a moment. My room, even though just their standard room, was beautifully decorated and spacious with spectacular lighting. The front desk staff was courteous and helpful. The doorman was always friendly and helpful. Even the housekeeping staff was excellent. The chocolates they leave on the night table are freshly made, not packaged chocolates. The Tudor restaurant is not to be missed. The breakfast was fine, though not extraordinary, but more than adequate. But you can sit eating breakfast on the finest bone china and silver cutlery outside on a balcony overlooking Syntagma Square with a view of the Acropolis. That is heaven. The service was excellent even though breakfast was a buffet. I cannot imagine anyone complaining about this hotel. I look forward to returning soon. I had a wonderful experience. I almost didn't write this review because I fear that too many people will want to book this hotel and it will become difficult to book and/or more expensive. But the hotel deserves recognition for a job very, very well done.
