Gorgeous Wedding Setting A review of Brierley Hill Bed and Breakfast
My husband and I planned a "destination" wedding of sorts. We were married in Jackson Memorial Hall at VMI and wanted a romantic, out-of-the-way place away from the friends and family (not that they're not all wonderful, but we did want some privacy during some of the weekend). I booked the Magnolia Cottage, and two other suites for couples who were in the bridal party. The pictures on the internet do not lie. The B&B is heaven on Earth and our hosts could not have been one bit more accommodating and pleasant.
We were allowed to have our wedding photographs taken on the property, and there was no such thing as a bad shot with the Shenandoah Valley as a backdrop. It was even overcast and drizzly, and the pictures were still stunning!
The B&B is kept in impeccable shape. Extremely clean and orderly. The cottage looked as though we were the first guests ever to stay in it. The amenities such as coffee in the room and snacks were plentiful. Hot water was never gave out nor did the complimentary toiletries.
All three rooms had excellent beds and linens. We all commented in the mornings during those fabulous breakfasts that we never slept so well (indeed, being from NYC, I nearly passed out from all the oxygen around me).
I cannot think of one thing I would change except perhaps the quality of the coffee in the morning. Only hazelnut was offered, and it was weak and tepid; however, a trip into town for a double espresso at the coffee shop was no bother and my coffee requirement is a personal problem (I hate flavored coffees and I like my first cup in the morning to be hot and very strong) and not the responsibility of the hosts. AND . . . the setting, the service, the rooms, the hospitality was so overwhelmingly wonderful that I probably shouldn't even mention the coffee at all.
The Brierley absolutely made our wedding weekend a romantic and cherished memory. We'll be back on our first anniversary! The other two couples want to join us, again, too!
