Gorgeous Hotel with Outrageous Views of the Flatirons A review of St Julien Hotel and Spa
My husband and I stayed in a Premier King room with a balcony overlooking the Flatirons (THE Landmark in Boulder). The room was incomparable, gorgeous, and very comfortable. The view, spectacular, we did not want to close the curtains at all! Sitting on the balcony and enjoying the view was terrific, our only complaint was the road noise (with the doors open) on Canyon Blvd., but that is to be expected in a downtown location.
We requsted an early check-in and late check-out and due to availabililty, they graciously accomodated our requests.
We also loved the martini bar - very cool place - also very cold and they couldn't do anything about the A/C there.
There were a few glitches as the hotel is brand new:
1) No one to greet us at the door and valet our car - we ended up parking right in front, getting our own cart, locking the car, and turning in the keys at checking. They were extremely apologetic and took care of everything immediately. Our bags were brought up quickly as well.
2) The sound on the TV was not great, perhaps there was something wrong with the speaker.
3) Absolutely DO NOT have your Sunday Brunch at Jill's - it was a huge ripoff and the food was not worth $25.50/pp + tip at all. There are plenty of wonderful restaurants close by that I would chose next time (i.e. The Dushanbe Teahouse - fabulous and beautiful).
4) A maintenance man knocked very lightly (so that we thought it might be coming from next door) at about 1:30 in the afternoon and CAME IN even though we had a (very cute) Do Not Dusturb Sign up. We didn't think we had to lock the door from the inside during the day. This was not a pleasant experience. Again, the front desk apologized profusely and promised to have a conversation with Maintenance. No, we did not call with any problems.
Loved the hotel!!!
