Good stay for the money A review of The Holland Hotel
As a two star hotel, there are not a lot of frills, but we found it more than sufficient for our needs. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. We stayed 5 nights and left our vehicle in the lot the entire time. Though the parking lot is not "secure" so to speak, the staff keep an eye on things during the day and there is a security guard at night. We had no trouble. The continental breakfast was what we expected, and they offer a free newspaper Monday through Saturday.
The Newport Center Mall is just down the road and has a nice food court, but is (strangely) very limited on restroom facilities. You can cut through the mall to get to the PATH train (for NYC) and Light Rail (for NJ) stations on the other side, less than a mile from the hotel. The PATH train has several stops in NYC, with the farthest being 33rd street. From there you can access a subway to just about anywhere in the city.
I would definitly recommend staying here for visitors on a budget.
