Good stay at the Marriott A review of New York Marriott East Side
Stayed at the East Side 07th Feb 2004 for 8 nights. Room on 33rd floor, two lifts to get to floor but never any problems. Check in was good and all hotel staff plesant and polite. Booked show tickets thru hotel, once again excellent service and very good seats. Nice small bar area in lobby with sports TV. Only used a few times to get a warm drink whilst dropping off shopping. Used room service. Prompt and efficient and good value. Used internet in business centre in hotel, $8 for 15mins. Rooms very spacious and clean. Location was good away from all the hustle of Times Square but with a 10-15 minute walk when needed.
Sub way stop 2 blocks up on Lex and 51st St (hotel on Lex+49th St) Used sub way to get to Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge and up and down Manhattan. Very good and felt safe. Bought a pass for 7 days which was great value. Used taxi few times but so so busy quicker walking or train. Took helicopter over city ( Liberty Helicopters ) excellent, walked in Central Park and went to Woodbury Common Shopping Mall ( 90mins outside NYC ) excellent place with great value shopping on offer, great day out. Would return to Marriott East Side again as in good location, good room sizes, never experienced any problems during our stay. However if you want to be right in the middle of thing this may not be for you.
