Good Standard Holiday Inn A review of Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites
My myself and my new husband stayed at the Holiday Inn and Suites during part of our 3 week tour of California on our honeymoon. We stayed from the 3rd to the 5th August. When we arrived it was 13°c, after coming from the 40°c temps of Vegas, I was a little ------ off. I didn't know that it was going to be so cold. Yeah I knew we were high up in the mountains, but didn't think the drop in temp. would be so dramatic. So when we arrived at our room was too annoyed to take anything in. The room was fine though, absolutely nothing wrong with it, it was a very good standard for a holiday inn. They have an indoor gym and swimming pool and there is a bar (although it only seems to be occupied by the barman). I'd probably have been a little more appreciative if I wasn't so cold. We went for our dinner to a place across the road, I think it was called Slocums. The food was fantastic (so we went back our second night there too). There isn't much to do in Mammoth Lakes unless you are into your mountain biking or skiiing. However, we did venture to the mountain (fully equipped with warm clothes on). It was a little bit warmer there. We had planned to rent a couple of bikes but they were all out (it was Saturday), so instead we went up the gondolas to the top of the mountain, we stayed there for about a minute, we had to leave other the frostbite would have set in. When we arrived back down, we sat outside and watched people rock climbing (not real rock climbing, there was a practice bit). It was quite entertaining and I wish I'd tried it. We had a beautiful lunch at the cafe there, with it being a little warmer I even took my jumper off and would you believe its the most burnt I've ever been. Being so high up, the air is very thin, so beware, always wear suncream (even if you are freezing). I would recommend the Holiday Inn if you plan a visit to Mammoth Lakes, it has everything you need. Mammoth Lakes is definitely for the mountain biking and skiing enthusiasts.
