Good location, small shower A review of The Whaler's Inn

Nice little place right in the middle of a nice little town. Good sized rooms and nice bed, plus a couch, but the shower is a deathtrap for somebody of bigger proportions.

Close to the drawbridge which is great, as you can watch the sailboats and million dollar yachts go under after walking just about a hundred feet down main street from the inn. A nice little park with a wooden boardwalk is very calm and relaxing while also being just one street over from the inn. Go to the ice cream place across the bridge called Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream, and then come back and watch the boats come through 40 minutes past every hour. By the way, if you like peanut butter get the chocolate peanut butter sundae at the ice cream place. There is so much peanut butter in it that you will choke on it.

The Inn also serves a simple continental breakfast but right next door is Tim Horton's donut shop. Diagonal from the Inn is S&P Oyster Company which is expensive despite less than stellar food. But the ambviance outside is very nice. They don't take reservations per se, but they will take your name over the phone for "priority seating", which I would suggest if you want outside by the drawbridge and you don't want to wait for 45 minutes.

Also within walking distance is the Mystic Seaport (didn't go in because the $17 admission price didn't seem worth it) and the famous Mystic Pizza, where Julia Roberts became a star.

Five minute drives include the legendary Little Kitchen breakfast establishment, Old Mistick Village (60 shops in a setup that makes it look like an old village), and the Mystic Aquarium which was great fun. You can even pay extra to play with the beluga whales and penguins if you want.
