Good Location - Good Price - Would stay there again A review of Golden Tulip De'Medici Hotel
We stayed at the hotel on Boxing Day and found everything to be of a good standard. The reception staff were friendly and checkin/checkout was a breeze. The hotel bar was decent for a nightcap and while we didn't have breafast as we had the eurotunnel train to catch the facilities looked good.
The room itself was very large by continental standards, with enough room for a desk and chairs to go along with the expected double bed and chest of drawers. The bathroom was also quite large, but looked like it was part way through some refurbishment. We had a 2nd floor room facing the road/canal providing some nice views.
The location was very good. Call it a 10 min walk to the town square, with neighbourhood pubs and restaurants well within stumbling distance. If you come by car you can follow the ring road around to the north-east corner and then cross the canal, on to the cobblestone and its down the road along the canal on the left and secure parking is 10 euro/night, although the street parking looks safe enough. If you're arriving by train/bus its a walk clear across town to get to the hotel.
One word of warning for those travelling with kids, while flippin through the channels to find BBC (no really we were!) we stumbled past an 'unlocked' porn channel so you might want to be careful leaving them alone with the tele!
That minor point aside, we'd definitely recommend staying here and would do so again.
