Good location for historic attractions A review of BEST WESTERN PLUS Independence Park Hotel

We spent three nights at the Best Western Independence Park Hotel. This hotel is located just three blocks from the main historical sites of Philadelphia enabling you to walk everywhere. If you need to park there is parking two blocks away for $13.00 a day. Our room was large and faced the street. We could hear street noise so I would suggest asking for room on the courtyard. The noise did not bother us enough to request a room change. A buffet breakfast is included and the special item is waffles. My only negative observation of the buffet breakfast was that the fresh fruit bowl looked quite old and tired. This hotel reminded me of many of the three star hotels I have stayed at in Europe. The reception area and communal areas are centered around a large fireplace. On Wednesday evening wine/cheese & crackers are served. Each afternoon tea and cookies are available. This is a nice touch and we enjoyed relaxing on the couch by the fireplace. Although there is no restaurant associated with this hotel there are so many restaurants within five blocks we had a hard time deciding. Also, public transportation is very convenient for traveling beyond walking distances. This hotel has a somewhat shabby appearance from the street and be prepared to haul your own suitcases to and from your room. But the great location and very comfortable feeling once inside out weighs the few negatives of this establishment.
