Good idea, poor implementation A review of Habitat Suites Hotel

I really wanted to like the Habitat Suites being kind of a granola girl. My husband and I, along with a couple and their 2 children stayed for 5 days in September. My favorite thing about the place was the saline pool. The beds were comfortable and clean. My husband enjoyed the free breakfast every morning. Our friends are vegetarian and were happy to see organic offerings and thought it was weird when there were bean and rice dishes that had meat - but were unlabeled. My husband was annoyed to find that the rice had chunks of chicken when he assumed it was tofu! It would have been nice to see some soy sausage besides the pork sausage since it seems this kind of place would cater to veggies. Overall I would say our experience was mediocre. It wasn't awful - it wasn't great. The service was great, the people couldn't be more friendly. I would have liked to see our set of rooms cleaned around the light switch plates and the doors near the handles -- everything seemed a bit aged (peeling wallpaper and mismatched paint touchups) and slightly dingy. The location was a little north of downtown, it felt like the area was a little abandoned. The mall across the street had it's heyday some time ago. I would say the whole area is ripe for rennovation and revitalization. It was quiet however, which we enjoyed and had plenty of free parking. We felt safe and comfortable the whole time we were there. One other thing -- we had the bedroom upstairs which had an open window into the living room cathederal ceiling -- noise was echo-ey and loud from the living room.
