Good hotel, ok service A review of Holiday Inn Express Boston
My husband and I stayed at the HI Express 12/31/03 for one night. We chose the hotel based on the reasonable park and fly rate. When we arrived at 8:00 pm there was no parking to be found anywhere. After circling the lot for many long minutes we went back to the front desk to see what we should do. We were told to leave the car in front of two other parked cars and to leave our keys with the front desk in case it had to be moved during the night. The front desk clerk assured us that some spots would open up by the time we were leaving in the am and if they didn't then we should park in one of the handicapped spots out front. Well, the next morning the lot was still full so we parked in the handicapped spot. We advised the current front desk clerk where we were parked and gave him the explantion. He then advised us that the car could be towed if it was left there. We told him there was nowhere to move it to as the lot was completely full. He told us that he could not authorize our parking there and that we would have to call the general manager of the hotel when we landed in Tortola. To make a long story short, it cost us an additional $35 in phone calls to the general manager to sort this out. This was an absolutely ridiculous situation as we left the keys with them so they could move the car as soon as a spot opened up.
The room itself was fine - typical Holiday Inn style. Wake-up call came on time and shuttle was quick. Shuttle driver did inform us and another couple that he had been up until 4:00am (it was then 6:00 am) partying. At least we made it in one piece! Another drawback is the lack of restaurants near the hotel. The only one close is a Bickfords.
I would not stay here again. We are trying the FourPoints by Sheraton for our upcoming trip. Hopefully they will have better service!
