Good hotel - enjoyable stay A review of Hotel Pyramida
The Room. The room was of adequate size and had 3 mirrors, shower room was clean and the shower was hot and reasonably powerful. The Safe is free of charge and there is ample wardrobe space. TV has about 2 English channel (news) and a German music channel playing mostly English language songs. We were on the top floor (9) in room 942 and had a fantastic view of the town and of Prague castle.
Hotel Facilities. My girlfriend and I booked up the relaxation massage for 800Kc each (£16) - this was very good but I would recommend a Thai massage at thaifit (www.thaifit.cz) at 500Kc an hour (£10). We followed the massage up with a swim in the hotel pool which has a small charge.
A gym is also available but I didn't try that. There was no charge for storing luggage at the hotel after checking out.
Breakfast. It wasn't the best buffet breakfast but I found it adequate.
Choice of cereal, boiled egg, chicken/pork stew, fruit, yogurt, hot and cold meat and a selection of cheese. I sometimes found the rolls a bit stale and so I opted to cut slices from the fresh loaf of bread. You have to reserve and pay extra for a fried egg or bacon. A fried egg was 50Kc I think (£1). We never tried the restaurant but it did look very nice.
Transport. We got the 119 bus from the airport to Dejicka bus station and from there we got a taxi to the hotel and that should be about 100-150Kc (£2). A tram stop is outside the hotel and trams 22 and 23 go into town and we mostly got off at the Tesco stop just over the river which is where the main shopping street is. This is where you will find Next, Zara, Marks and Spencer and the famous Bata shoe shop. Twice (but not always) the 22 tram did not follow the route into town as stated on the map and went North - the other passengers seemed confused by this and so I would suggest waiting for the 23 to be on the safe side.
Tickets are 12Kc each (£0.24) and can be bought at the hotel and can be used as many times as you like within one hour. Tram takes about 15-20 mins and a walk into town was about 30 mins and is downhill. A taxi from the centre of town back to the hotel is about 150-200Kc (£3.50)
Overall. I found the staff helpful when we asked for them to book the opera, the hotel has a very good interior and looked well maintained and I would say it is a good place to stay. Breakfast has made me opt for rating it 4 star instead of 5.
