Good Hotel, but Not 5 Stars A review of Hotel Cataratas
We stayed here for 2 nights in December 2005. Booked a "suite," which was a huge room with a king bed, plus a smaller room with 2 single beds. Bathroom was enormous with a huge jacuzzi, double sinks, toilet and bidet. Airconditioning was noisy and we had to keep it going 24/7 in order to keep the room cool. Pool was lovely, reasonably priced food and drinks. Lots of activities (tennis, nature trail, soccer pitch, kids' equipment, pool table, table tennis). Breakfast was very ordinary - probably rate it as a 3 star, not a 5. Service at reception was shocking - asked clerk to give change for a 50 peso note - answer "no." No reason given. (This happened more than once).
All in all we had a pleassant stay and it was a nice hotel, but definitely not a 5 star. If you want 5 stars - Sheraton, or Bourbon Cataratas (on the Brazilian side) or the Iguazu Grand...... However, this one was pleasant enough, reasonably clean and reasonably priced.
