Good clean luxurious property, close to City A review of Sofitel San Francisco Bay
Excellent property. I did a lot of research on hotels in San Fran before selecting this one. On my last trip, I had stayed downtown in the city at the Hyatt Regency but this time, I wanted to stay out of the city for my vacation due to planned trips to Napa etc. I got some cheaper hotels like Hilton Garden Inn next to the airport, but paid $10/ night more for Sofitel due to its 4-star status (still under $90/ night for standard room), good ratings on this site, and wanting no bad-experiences and surprises. I was very happy with my decision. Main reasons--
*its a luxurious property, so no worries about poorly maintained rooms, broken couches etc--
*its placed next to/ on a lagoon so is beautiful and relaxing,
*free wireless access in the lobby,
*24-hr fitness center with fruits etc,
*decent bar and coffee shop (slow but good b'fast)--the restaurant is not great but there are many eating choices available within a 7-10 min drive.
Above all: its not too expensive for a 4-star,
*the staff is reasonably friendly,
*the rooms are GOOD SIZED STANDARD ROOMS and CLEAN, VERY CLEAN,
*free Evian water bottles, and the location is not bad if you have a car (free shuttle from SFO).
A little too obsessed with France (menus in french and english, Paris metro map etc!) but I would definitely go back there by choice--which is, i guess, the ultimate compliment for a hotel.
