Good, but not great A review of Country Inn & Suites Lancaster
We just returned from a two night stay at the Coutry Inn and Suites (not to be confused with the Country Inn of Lancaster). The location is both good and bad: It is across the street (literally) from Dutch Wonderland. But, Dutch Wonderland sits on the main road (Route 30) in Lancaster. Our front facing one-bedroom suite was VERY noisy at bedtime. On the positive side, the kids loved looking out the window and seeing the castle each day (Disney, it's not -- but still fun for small kids).
The room was small for a suite -- and poorly laid out as compared to, say, Doubletree Suites. For example, the bathroom (loud flush!) is in the living room area -- which made it tough to go potty while the kids were asleep in the later evening hours.
Everything was clean and service was friendly (although no one seemed to know good places to eat in the area). The bathroom is smallish for a suite -- but, there were two sinks (unfortunately, both are inside the commode area). The pool was good enough - but, the surface around the pool could have been a bit cleaner.
In sum, we would indeed recommend this hotel for families traveling with children in the Lancaster area -- but, we cannot give it a rave review.
A side note: We thought Dutch Wonderland and Hershey's Chocolate Factory made for a perfect short getaway with our young kids (2 and 5). Both Miller's and Shady Maple were very good smorgasboards. And, finally, we liked the buggy ride at Plain & Fancy -- but, it was shorter than they let on. Coupons abound at the PA welcome center just over the border on Route 78. Ask at the desk.
