Good but not Five Stars A review of Iron Gate Hotel & Suites
For location this hotel is excellent - you are literally a minute from Stare Mesto and no more than two or three minutes from Charles Bridge. The staff were friendly and accomodating and the building itself a gem as it retains many original features. However, I felt that the quality of accomodation (excluding the architecture) was a little bleak and basic. I am not entirely sure why this hotel rates as five stars. The Amethyst which is four stars has far more facilities, although it is not so central and the City Moran was equal to the Iron Gate when it came to friendly staff and slighty better in terms of quality (food, furniture etc). Other niggly faults were a very meagre mini-bar (not that it was used) and and incredibly poor exchange rate at reception - even the tourist exchanges were giving a better exchange rate at no extra commission.
