Good accomdation, but the food is expensive and watch the beach A review of Longboat Key Club & Resort

I visited this resort with my family during April 2003. We stayed in a one room suite, with a beach view. The suite which was spacious, and well kept with an excellent view from a very large balcony.Downsides were:The cost of meals on the resort is high, and there is little atmosphere. After the eating in the main resort restaurant on the first night, for the remaining time we ate at St Armands, a small shopping and restaurant area near by. I can recommend St Armands for both its selection of restaurants (the L'Europe, the Crab and Fin and the Columbia were all the good - the first two being somewhat more formal. The shrimp linguine at the Crab and Fin was excellent) and shops, and lively atmosphere. The beach is substantially made up of shells. This means that children have to be a little careful as both my sons received cuts to their legs from broken shells whilst playing along the water line.
