Glad I chose the Grand Hotel Bohemia A review of Grand Hotel Bohemia
As a first time visitor to Prague and having read some of the reviews on tripadvisor, I was uncertain whether to book a hotel in the centre or a little further out. I need have had no fears, as I found the centre of the city to be very safe and relatively crime free.
Thanks to reviews on Tripadvisor I chose the Grand Hotel Bohemia as my base and was glad I did. The hotel is located near the Old Square and Wencelas Square, both within a few minutes walk. A metro station is literally on the doorstep so access to all the sights is easy. Service in the hotel was excellent, no sign of the famous Czech surliness here. I arrived very late, due to mechanical problems on the flight, and was relieved to find everything (reservation wise) in order, even though I had only booked through Expedia the night before. Decided to use room service due to the flight delay and found it to be quick and the food was very tasty.
Room was an excellent size with a good seating area. The bed was comfortable and air-conditioning excellent (and quiet, so did not keep me awake at night). The rooms were spotless and the cleaning excellent, as should be expected in a five star. Room security was also A1. Rooms had an electronic card access system and there was a good sized safe in the room. Breakfasts were ample with a reasonable selection, without being outstanding, but the staff were very attentive and special requests were not treated as a problem.
Noted an earlier comment by a reviewer that this hotel was really a four star due to the lack of a gym and pool. This was not a problem for me as I would have been too tired to use them after walking round Prague all day. This hotel ticked all the five star boxes for me and I would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Prague and will certainly use it again on my next visit.
