Girls spa weekend at the Lodge at Emerson Place A review of Emerson

2 girlfriends and I stayed in a Junior Suite at the Lodge at Emerson Place for 2 nights on October 13, 2006. We loved the place! Our suite was clean, comfortable and surprisingly large. Upstairs, a large bedroom with 2 queen beds and a bathroom with oversized shower and separate jet tub. An abundance of closet, dresser and storage space. Cable tv. Off the upstairs bedroom, a balcony that faces the Esopus Creek in the distance. Downstairs, a living room with leather recliner, pull out queen sofa bed, table and 3 chairs, coffee table, end tables, plenty of overhead and table lighting, a second cable television and again more closet and drawer space for storage. Around the corner from the staircase, a wet bar with coffee maker and mini bar/fridge. Great towels, bathrobes, slippers, bath products, fruit/wine basket - so many extras.

We dined at the Catamount for Friday night dinner and everything was fabulous. We were pleased with the menu selections and everything we ordered was to our liking.

Continental breakfast buffet (included in the nightly rate) was also at the Catamount Restaurant. We feasted on gourmet granola, cold cereals, yogurt, fresh cut fruit, bagels, muffins, scones and assorted pastries. Coffee, tea, juice and milk were also included. All of the baked goods were moist, fresh and flavorful - so much better than typical continental breakfast fare.

On Saturday morning, we enjoyed treatments at the spa. Again, everything was to our liking. The spa includes separate mens and womens locker rooms with sauna and steam rooms, spa quality bath and vanity products, and a small resting room that features water with lemon slices, tea, fresh fruit and even pastries. There is a small resistance pool and a whirlpool, some exercise equipment and a small exercise/yoga studio.

Overall, we look forward to coming back to Emerson Resort and Spa once the new inn, restaurant and spa are completed in late 2006. Our suite was large enough for 3 of us to share, and a good value at $295 per night, including continental breakfast. Parking is also included in the rate and is right outside the door.
