Getting Worse A review of Shular Inn Hotel

I have stayed at Shular for the past ten years, usually three times per year and for three days each time. Conservatively, I have spent about $5000 with Shular during the last ten years.

I returned today from three days at Shular, Podgeon Forge. Each time I have gone back, the service and attitude of their help gets worse....... we had two skinny bars of soap which had to last for three days, sheets were never changed, toilet paper was of sandpaper quality, the orange juice and coffee at their breakfast bar was unfit for human consumption, the TV did not work and had to have repairs late at night and the night clerlk came on duty apparently mad at the world. All of this we were ready to tolerate but not what happened next.

Shular is out to make a buck so badly that they will totally disregard any major inconvenience to their paying guests......so badly in fact that they rented out their adjacent vacant lot and the use of their parking lot to a group of loud, boisterous hot rod car buffs. These people began in the early afternoon of Oct. 24, 2002 by setting up tents and all their wares which they trucked in using the biggest, loudest vehicles that could be found. Included were many restored cars, trucks, motorcycles, and all kinds of car part such as fenders, grills, bumpers, hitches, radiators, hubcaps, etc. As if that was not enough they brought in their loud motorcycles and vehicles that had no mufflers. Imagine the noise and loud mouths that hotel guests had to put up with most of the night and the following days....all on Shular property within fifty feet of 100 rooms. My tab of $219.00 was a total waste of my money.

When I complained to the desk clerk she said ' they bring in a lot of revenue to Shular'.....no apology...no nothing. It was obvious that she just expected guests to put up with the disturbance. There were guests hurriedly checking out this morning along with me and it was common to hear comments to the effect they would never stay at Shular's again. I never will.

In closing I am bettig this complaint will never appear in TripAdvisor's website.....if it does, it wll help restore my faith in humanity.
