Get a lot and pay a lot! A review of Ojai Valley Inn and Spa
I just spent the weekend at the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa--happily or otherwise I was attending a business meeting and not spending my own money. I wasn't planning on writing a review, but after seeing the mixed bag of what has already been written, I thought I should report that even the base rate room was large, clean, attractively furnished, etc. Personally I don't like beds with heavy comforters, but its a matter of taste.
The grounds are lovely, the exercise room is average, Tom was exceptionally friendly and helpful at the tennis center, and parking was a problem. The California Mission style buildings are very spread out and this is probably not the best place to be if the weather turns bad. The adjacent town is very nice but not spectacular.
As part of a group, I didn't have dining choices, but the the meals served our group were outstanding.
You can spend a lot of money here in a weekend. If you need to stretch your travel dollar, you can do better elsewhere--even if you need the spa and golf course. If price is less determinative, the real issue will be whether the activities are what you want. The golfers in my group loved the beautiful course. I can't comment on the spa or the horseback rides.
