GENERALLY GOOD, BUT.... A review of The Diplomat Hotel
This is generally a nice hotel. Our room at the fifth floor was of adequate size and nicely furnished. It was clean and well equipped, although sometimes they did not replenish the mini bar and the coffee/tea facilities and we had to ask for whatever was missing.
Some pieces of furniture at the lobby (the coffee tables for example) are very weary and need to be replaced. The first three mornings we had our breakfast at the bar/library of the ground floor and it was very nice, while the groups were breakfasting in Loretta Restaurant of the second floor. The fourth morning, they moved us also in Loretta and it was a mess; crowded and noisy, although the buffet was satisfactory on both cases.
There were two concierge ladies. The shorter one (unfortunately I cannot remember her name) was fantastic! One of the best professionals I've ever met (I have traveled a lot and know of what I am talking about), a real asset to this hotel, whose staff in general is not that great. Most of them are gloomy and some of them are even rude! (especially the red-haired hairdresser).
Also, we were asked to pay CZK50 per piece of luggage, because we left our baggage to the hotel's storage room for four hours! They said that until 12 noon this service is free, but after that one has to pay. In any other hotel we have stayed in, all over the world, this service is free of charge for at least 24 hours. It was not the amount that bothered us, but their attitude towards their guests, but in Prague one cannot even enters a church without paying entrance fees!
