Friendly, helpful staff A review of Marriott Minneapolis City Center
I stayed here alone on business for 2 days. Every staff member I encountered was friendly, welcoming, smiling, and ready to help. The service-oriented attitude of the staff made my stay above average. One of the maintenance guys sharing an elevator with me went out of his way to say he hoped I had an enjoyable stay and that he really appreciated my staying at this hotel. The server in the hotel restaurant was helpful and knowledgable about a local attraction I asked about and directions, different means of transportation available, etc. The location is good in the business centre of the city, close to many downtown shops, as well as the light rail line which is only 2-3 blocks away and runs directly to the airport, as well as to the Mall of America. Facilities (room, restaurant, etc.) were average. Everything worked, I encountered no problems. One annoyance was the split elevator system, where elevators from the street level only take you to the 5th floor lobby, where you must change over to another elevator to get to your room. Overall, I'd recommend it for business travellers who are not looking for the ambience of a botique or luxury hotel, but want a basic, dependable, clean place to stay where the staff all seem to have a great attitude.
