Flashback! A review of Travelodge Monaco/N Miami/Sunny Isles
This hotel must be left over from the 50's or 60's and it is a bit rundown and seedy but I totally LOVE it! It's completely campy. Old people were actually playing shuffleboard by the pool--I'd never seen that before! You can get a room right on the beach (walk outside your door and you're stepping on sand) It's also within a few blocks of a great gym, a liquor store, an irish pub, some clothes stores, and several good restaurants. I don't know how much longer this place will be around--it's probably the only one story building around for miles--the land it's on must be worth more than the hotel itself. The only problems I've ever had there are low water pressure in the showers and inability to control the temperature in your room. Plus I didn't realize how far north it was from Miami. I will probably stay here again someday and I recommend it for people with eclectic taste who don't like lah-dee-dah fancy hotels. It's probably a good place if you've got kids along with you too.
