First class hotel A review of Hotel Riu Garoe
After many visits to hotels and apartments in Puerto de la Cruz have just returned from a weeks holiday in the Hotel Garoe in the La Paz area.
The hotel is advertised as 4-star and it certainly deserves this rating if not 4 star plus. It has been built less than 3 years and this certainly shows. The hotel looks lovely from the outside being only 4 floors and the design and layout inside is just as good. The rooms are excellent. I expected a single room but had a double room to myself. There is water, wine and fluffy bath robes waiting for you on arrival, and a KETTLE ! This is the only spanish hotel I have ever been to where a kettle and tea etc is provided for you. Shame I lugged my own all the way there ! The food is excellent, there was nothing missing and the choice and quality of the fresh meat was superb. The poolside area is very pretty and clean if not abit crowded on very sunny days. The hotel caters mainly for Germans who insist on putting their towels out on the beds and disappearing for half the day which can be annoying especially as it asks you not to, but there are plenty of beds and we had no difficulty finding some after breakfast. My only critisism is that I was on the ground floor over the kitchen which tended to be abit noisy until about 11pm so I would recommend asking for a higher floor. We booked through Corona holidays on the internet which worked out cheaper than through the other tour operator Portland Direct, probably because they use a Spanish flight company. 10/10 all round. Will definately use this hotel again.
