Fine place, just misses top notch A review of DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cocoa Beach Oceanfront

We stayed here two nights on a visit to the Kennedy Space Center. Chose to splurge on an oceanfront room (one of the few), and was glad we did -- nothing like lying in bed looking out at the ocean! Hotel is far back from the highway, as close to the beach as it could be. Very attractive and spacious restaurant & lounge, and the one lunch we had there was excellent. Pool area is not large, but it's nicely laid out with lots of lounge chairs. Staff was very friendly, from the front desk to the waitress who got me a special order to the housekeeper. Room was a bit above average in size and furnishings, including fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Specious desk and professional office chair made desk work a pleasure. Didn't get to use the fitness room, but it looked well equipped. A few negatives: Our room showed more wear and tear than I would expect in a fairly expensive hotel -- gouged wallpaper, broken latch on balcony door, and a counter that needed refinishing. As another reviewer noted, the pool area appeared to be unstaffed. And those cheapo plastic chairs on the tiny balcony -- all wrong for this class hotel.
