Fell a bit short A review of Mountain Harbor Inn Resort On the Lake
My husband and I stayed two nights at the Mountain Harbor Inn. The rooms are smaller than they appear on the website, but the beds are nice with good linens. There is a very strong smell in the rooms from the air freshners, plug-ins, and potpourri they use. I am all for nice-smelling rooms, but here is was very over-powering and artificial smelling. Too much. The bathrooms are small and in need of update, and the showers are tiny, but there is a nice assortment of Bath & Body Works toiletries. We had our dog with us, but we were not in one of the official "pet" rooms because of a mix-up. The first morning of our stay, I took our Chihuahua out to walk. We were walking around on the sidewalks around the grounds and my dog was sniffing something in one of the flowerbeds. One of the groundskeepers (who was also on the housekeeping staff) rudely said, "Ma'am you're supposed to walk your dog over by the dumpster, not in the flowerbeds." Well, there is no grass by the dumpster, only a gravel pit.
We also had trouble with the housekeeping staff. We were in bed at 9:15 a.m. and they started to unlock the door! We had to shout to keep them from barging in. We decided that we didn't want them to come in to clean at all that day because we had some valueable things and didn't want them in the room. We put the "PRIVACY PLEASE" sign on the door and returned after being gone all day only to find that they came in and cleaned, leaving the lights on and blinds open.
The breakfast is the same every day. It is good but not great: eggs, bacon/sausage, biscuits, gravy, fried apples, hashbrowns, and Wheaties or Cherrios. It was good for one day, but the second day I really wanted something like fresh fruit or toast.
