FAR Exceeded Expectations A review of Marriott Waterfront Seattle
My husband and I went to Seattle for Thanksgiving 2003, and we decided to stay in a quaint bed and breakfast. Once we arrived, we had some problems with our accomodations and needed to make a last minute change and look for someplace else to stay. After calling around, the waterfront Marriot offered a great deal and we arrived late in the evening. After a day of traveling and poor customer service at the b&b, we were tired, hungry, and I was a bit cranky. As soon as we arrived, we were completely overwhelmed by the excellent personal service. They basically treated us as if we were some VIP customers dropping huge bucks.
Originally, we just asked for one nights stay thinking we would find some cheaper accomodations for the rest of the week. But, each night after enjoying the service, the food, and the accomodations, we would request another nights stay. We ended up staying there for a week.
The front desk crew would address us by name thoughout our stay and, if we ever had a special request, they would give it to us plus a little more no matter the time of day or night. They gave excellent recommendations and directions for local attractions/restaurants.
Everyone from the people delivering our room service to the bellboys to the valet parking folks, to the consierge were always friendly, helpful, and again eager to offer the best service possible. Have I mentioned the excellent service yet? I really can't say enough about how incredible the service was. We were quite overwhelmed, surprised, and completely delighted with the personal pampered service we received!
Originally we wanted to go to a B&B so we could have this type of personal pampering. When that didn't work out, we never in our wildest dreams thought we would get it in a large chain hotel. My husband and I travel all over the world, and like I said, this was some of the best service, food and accomodations we received yet in one place. You get a lot more than you actually pay for!
The food both in the restaurant and in room service was wonderful. It's somewhat pricey, but hey, were in a nice hotel on the waterfront. What do you expect? The Sunday brunch was too good for words. The quiche and peanut butter pancakes with carmelized banana syrup were absolutely fantastic. The peanut butter pancakes are usually only for the weekend brunch, but they would make them up for me when I asked for them during the week.
The hotel really is on the waterfront and a short walk to the market.
It was great to get up in the mornings, walk to the market, and eat breakfast/lunch.
Our room was always clean, and very tastefully decorated. They even had down comforters on our bed. Not those aweful polyester rough-to-the-touch bed spreads found in many hotels. We were in a kingsize room looking out at the water and had plenty of room to feel comfortable and at home. One night, we decided to watch a movie on TV.
The movie had a bunch of static on it as if the tracking was off, and the hotel refunded the money without question or problems.
Typically, if we return to a city, we like to stay in different places just to experience new places. However, when my husband and I return to Seattle, we will stay here without a second thought. We can't recommend this hotel enough!!!
