Fantastic A review of The Atlantic Resort & Spa
We stayed at The Atlantic a few days at the end of July. Our Oceanfront room on the 14th floor was breathtaking. While there were a few kinks (they had just opened), it was overall an excellent stay. The room service and restaurant (Trina) was excellent, as well as the bell/valet staff. The spa facilities are unparalleled for a small hotel of this size. The gym was state of the art and the bathroom in our standard room was bigger and better stocked than bathrooms in other Luxury Hotels I've stayed in. There is also a balcony to sit outside and enjoy your morning coffee and the beautiful sun rises. As one would expect, the bedding and mattress are top of the line.
Regarding the two low reviews: One reviewer mentioned the beach is on the other side of A1A. Well, hello, all the hotels on Fort Lauderdale beach are across from A1A (except all the way at the south end of Fort Lauderdale Beach where there is a run-down Sheraton on the beach), so to fault the hotel for that is just plain wrong. You don't have any other option! Also, as far as the 'run down area'...that is also not true. I grew up in Fort Lauderdale and those 'run down' motels are actually hotels/motels built in the 50's. They have that dated look on the outside, but most have had their interiors renovated and charge up to $250/night. (I have stayed in many over the years while visiting my hometown.) Definitely not derelict! As a matter of fact, many South Floridians are upset they are tearing down these architectural landmarks and building places like W and the Q club, etc. I guess to each his own!
