Fantastic hotel at great price A review of The Westin Sydney
We spent our wedding night here in Nov 2002 after checking out the Hyatt, Meridien, and Sheraton on Park and Quay Grand first hand. Without doubt the best rooms are at the Westin with the proviso you like cream. We stayed in the Tower Block where the rooms are modern and I think nicer than the more expensive Heritage rooms. WE got upgraded to a superior room and paid A$295. The bath room is great - glass window through to the main room - can watch TV in the tub. Bottle of champers and chocolate on arrival and a high floor so got a pretty good view. This is a really world class hotel at a great price. It does not have the views of the Quay Grand, or Hyatt or a couple of others but the rooms are definitely superior. All of the others are very nice hotels. The Meridien has a more consistent room style than the Sheraton which has a great bathroom (though not in line with the bedroom style). The Hyatt has the best view, whilst the Quay is well kitted out with kitchen etc but does not have the same quality feel. Service at the Westin was pretty much faultless and breakfast was great. Only criticism is the public areas which lack a bit of intimacy - the Sheraton is the best for that on their mezzanine floor.
