Families beware A review of Marriott's BeachPlace Towers
.We booked this hotel as a post-cruise one night stay. Bad choice. The resort itself is lovely, but we were not there long enough to take full advantage of amenities. Having just come off a wonderful, pampering cruise ship, we were perhaps a little too critical, but here's what we had problems with: Accessibility. This hotel sits across the beach, but with a very busy shopping plaza in front of it.The taxi driver who dropped us off at the hotel, left us in front of this plaza saying the main entrance to the hotel is through a parking garage in the rear, and he could not go in fee-free. It was quite an ordeal dragging our luggage and 6 year old through this plaza, up public elevators, through the garage, to a very unwelcoming entrance, up more elevators, finally to the hotel lobby. We blamed the taxi driver for this fiasco, but really, shouldn't a high-end hotel have a better arrangement for arriving guest? We encountered the same problem in reverse the next morning, when we could not get a taxi to come in to the garage (main entance) to pick us up. The front desk staff assured us a taxi would come, but 40 minutes later, waiting in this vile location none came. We had to drag everything back out to the front of the plaza and hail one the the many cabs on the main road down. The other big problem with this place is the noise. While the loud music heard in the plaza is kind of fun to listen to sitting mid-afternoon on the villa's patio, it is not so great at three in the morning. With a bar named "Howl at the Moon" directly in front of the hotel, you can imagine what that was like . This hotel is ideal for spring breakers only. Families beware.
