Extremely disappointed A review of President Abraham Lincoln Springfield - A DoubleTree By Hilton Hotel
I had read several good reviews of this hotel here at tripadvisor and also saw some nice writeups in travel guides (one even calling it one of the best hotels in the midwest). The lobby is standard Marriot. Nice, clean and efficient - not grand or luxurious. The room however was depressing. The bed was about 18 inches off the ground and extremely uncomfortable. One of the pillows was hard as a rock. The furniture was comparable to anything you would find at a budget hotel (1970's chic). The bathroom was adequate but not what I would expect from a Renaissance. The mirror and showerhead were placed for people of below average height it seemed. All in all, I had a great time in Springfield visiting the historic sights, but this hotel was a downer. I hated coming back to it at night. I have stayed at Renaissance hotels in other cities, and, while not blown away, I always found them above average. This hotel was not. I would not return.
