Excellent Weekend Getaway A review of Ellis Hotel
My wife and I booked this room for the SEC Championship weekend December 2007. The hotel staff at the front desk were great. Their only downfall was that they didn't tell us you have to insert your key card in the elevator in order to get to your room floor. For downtown Atlanta this hotel is priced excellently. The regular rooms were smaller than a room at a chain hotel outside of the city but the quality of the room and hotel more than makeup for the size. The business center had two computers in it with a scanner and printer. The fitness center had enough equipment for the average workout. After the game we spent the rest of our evening in the bar which was a great experience since we had plenty of company with other LSU and Tennessee fans. Mimi, the bartender, had a busy night with a full house but she made it seam like we were the only ones in the bar.
A few words of advice about parking...There is a garage on the next block west of the Hotel but be careful because the attendant tried to rip us off by charging us for 2 days when we parked for less than 24 hours. The valet may be a better option if you're not familiar with the downtown area. Also this hotel is within walking distance of The Dome, Philips Arena, New World of Coke, Atlanta Aquarium, Olympic Park, etc.
The next time we book a room in downtown Atlanta, it will definitely be at The Ellis.
