Excellent value and, more importantly, truly S. Texas friendly A review of Port Aransas Inn
My wife, Mo and I ( both from San Antonio) are becoming quite the regulars at this wonderful property in Port A. Believe me we are very particular about our activities and lodging in the little city we've both cherished since our childhoods. In a way we feel we are practically locals and this locale retains the charm that is truly Port Aransas. I'd advise anyone to call this place a home away from home- time and time again. With all the growth Port A is undergoing it is getting tougher to find lodging where you are appreciated and eagerly welcomed back as if you were family. Randy and Patty, the owners, and their staff maintain that fun, friendly laid- back atmosphere where you feel like one of Port A's own.
We've stayed in several different rooms and each have our favorite. Mine is the jungle/safari and Mo's is the Victorian. They also have large adjoining rooms with kitchenettes that my friends here in SA have stayed in and loved . I think best of all however is the pool with connected hot tub- fun year round. Summertime- cool dip in pool followed by dip in the hot tub before bed. Heck, I do that year round. Pool area also has a nice stereo system that we've enjoyed immensely. If you don't particulary care for the station just ask them to change it - try that at a BestWestern- yeah right. Again it all comes back to laid back personalized service.
The inn is also close to the beach- a definite plus.
Pricing is extremely competitive. Also, another big plus, is the fact that if you arrive a little early, as we sometimes do( oops, often more than an hour or so), early check in has never been a problem as long as the room is ready. Try that lately at Days Inn?
By the way, we've heard that soon Randy and Patty will be adding a restaurant in the near future. There apparently has been a good dose of grappling with some local politicos however over a weird zoning prohibition. This has been quite an amusing topic which Randy has shared in descriptive pool-side chats of late. But that's a whole other topic so get down there and check it out yourself.
See you in Port A!
