Excellent Property, Staff, and Service! A review of DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Atlanta - Buckhead
As an employee of competing Starwood, I usually only stay at our own properties (Sheraton, Westin, W, etc.), but due all of our properties being sold out last week, I had to stay at the Doubletree during my trip to the Atlanta area. At first I was leary at another brand, but my reservations were soon cast aside when I walked into the lobby. "Wow!" is all I can say about this property. From the super friendly staff to the well appointed rooms, the Doubletree Buckhead can't be beat.
Check-in was fast, friendly, and efficient. Once I got up to my room on the fourth floor, I found it to be to my satisfaction -- clean and well maintained. The decor is light and airy and the bathrooms are extremely spacious and maneuverable. The hotel has wireless internet access, which I connected to via my laptop.
Sadly, during my stay, a water main serving the entire northern area of Atlanta burst and cut off our water in the Buckhead area. The hotel staff immediately stepped up and offered everyone unlimited complimentary bottled water, which was an extremely nice (and expensive, since the hotel was full) gesture.
The next day, I discovered that I had been charged for a movie that I did not order. Upon checkout, I let the clerk know this and she adjusted my bill without any questions asked. I also let her know that I appreciated the water and started making small talk with her. As I turned around to leave, she called out my name and handed me a tin of Doubletree's signature chocolate chip cookies gratis. That was the icing on the cake for me (no pun intended!). I left feeling very impressed.
Truly a class act. I recommend this hotel to anyone.
