Excellent location, clean and comfortable A review of Rott Hotel
Returned from Prague on the 19th January 2006 after a 5day trip. We stayed at The Rott Hotel which is situated on the Old Town Square. We arrived late afternoon booking in was quick and painless and we were shown to the room which was on the second floor. We found the room to the clean warm and comfortable plenty of hot water ample wardrobe and draw space. We were all desperate for a drink and went down to the reception to find the bar, unfortunately this was closed but we were directed to the bar next door which is also owned by the Rott Hotel as well as the adjoining building which consists of 5 floors of beautiful jewelery and crystal.
Not knowing the area we decided to stay in this bar and have a meal which was very nice chicken in ginger sauce with veg, and potato croquettes, the stawberries and cream were lush, washed down with chez beer and of course hot mulled wine.
The location of the Rott is ideal for sightseeing, literally round the corner from the old town square, and the asternomical clock, and easy walking distance to the powder gate, Charles Bridge and not forgetting Wenceslas square. Makes a change not to have to get taxis everywhere.
The only downside to the Rott is that after breakfast which again was good and plenty of variety the dining and lounge bar area were closed, this may well have been because it is low season, but in this case the rooms could have benefitted from tea and coffee facilites, which we asked for but it was not available. I am looking forward to going back to Prague at the end of the year for the Christmas Markets and would most certainly stay at the Rott again and recommend it to any one planning a visit.
