Exactly What I Expected A review of DoubleTree by Hilton & Miami Airport Convention Center
I stayed at the Sheraton Miami Mart Hotel for two nights in the beginning of December, 2005.
I was able to get a rate of $109 before 13% tax. The overall quality of the hotel and room was excellent at this price. If I was paying well over $200, I might be a bit disappointed -- The only thing that really irked me was that I had an attached room and I could easily hear the TV in the other room through the interior door. Sounds also came through the door leading to the hallway. (This stems from the fact that this hotel used to be a Radisson which I've found seem to be cheaply built).
But, again, at the price that I got the other amenities more than outweighed this one complaint.
Wireless Internet was very fast and worked perfectly throughout the room. It was $10 for 24 hours.
I had one King bed that had a very nice and clean duvet and wonderful pillows. The mattress was very comfortable and I slept very well.
The room was quite large with ample closet space and a large and comfortable chair with ottoman. It had new furniture, carpet and pictures and a modern/fashionable color scheme.
Parking was $8 for valet or $4 for self park. Contrary to a previous post, the walk was not far at all. The hotel has short term (no-valet) parking at the front for unloading.
The bar/lounge and restaurants looked pretty nice - flat panel TVs, nice furniture, cool lighting. I did not eat at the restaurant, but there were always a good amount of people eating. There was a live singer in the bar on Wednesday evening (the only evening that I walked by the bar).
The lobby/front desk area was very clean and upscale-looking. I did not notice any attitude with any employees.
I was not annoyed with the elevators even though only 2 of the 3 seemed to be functioning.
I did not use the pool but the pool area looked clean and nice.
Overall, I would stay at this hotel again. You could tell that a big (successful) effort was made for the hotel to look classy, modern, and spruced-up.
