European Style, American Comfort, Midwestern Prices! A review of The Crescent
My aunt and I recently spent a week in Southern California, and we stayed in her favorite hotel, The Beverly Crescent in Beverly Hills, CA. Having never been to California, I was looking forward to a nice place to sleep after days of sightseeing, trips, and just bumming around. The Beverly Crescent is the most perfect little hotel I have stayed at in some time. Just 38 rooms on the quiet corner of Crescent and Brighton, just across from the Civic Center. For $119/night rack rate (my aunt doesn't know how to look for Internet bargains, but it is included in some of the cheap hotel sites; I asked around), you couldn't stay in a better location. A mere 3 blocks away from Rodeo drive and a block and a half from Santa Monica Blvd. (the bus stop for us!), the Beverly Crescent is superb. A very tasty Continental breakfast is served in the morning on the lush patio and the most attentive staff I have had the pleasure to deal with in ages made my stay something to write home about. The rooms are cozy, with one full bed and a twin bed (double) or just a full bed (single) and all have private baths. Cable TV is also included. The hotel is changing hands, which may help out with the superficial repairs that are needed (but these imperfections make it feel like home and not like a faceless chain.) I hope the Beverly Crescent will continue to provide visitors with superb service and excellent rates for years to come!
