Dysfunctional Hotel A review of Sofitel Miami
The major advantage of this hotel is its proximity to the airport and the fact that its neon-highlighted exterior makes it impossible to miss. Stayed for one night in March when the hotel was nowhere near full. The room was large and nothing wrong with it, but nothing special. The food (two meals via room service) was average. The glaring problem here is the service. From arrival (no staff at the front door) to check-in (cute registration desks but the computers don't work or staff don't know how to use them, and this was a simple, one-night transaction) to room service (both meals required time on 'hold' before ordering and each took 45 minutes to arrive) to hotel operator (always got put on hold before call answered) to unresponsive bell staff. This may sound like a whining note from a spoiled traveler, so let me assure you that I'm really quite tolerant and have minimal hotel expectations. I would recommend tring a different property if you have to stay near MIA.
