DUMP A review of DFW Airport Hotel & Conference Center
Stayed at the Clarion DFW on 13 November 2005.
Van service is very efficient. Van driver was friendly and accomodating when I was picked up at Terminal D.
Most of the guests in the van were displaced by American Airlines; they were all irate.
Clarion is a rather big complex--looks fine from the exterior (it is located on the "typical" highway strip near filling stations, similar class hotels, Bennigans/Dennys restaurants, and a nearby mall).
Check-in clerk was friendly enough.
My stay went downhill fast after check-in.
Interior is dingy, dirty, and musty. Absolutely run down. Mini golf/putting green in lobby hasn't been used in years. Exercise room (two bikes) is locked up and can't be used (why, I don't know).
Country bar/nightclub is closed for "remodeling".
My room was along the pool-side area. Swimming pool was half full of water. Very inviting.
The room itself was dirty. Peanut shells on the floor, sticky gunk on the mirror above the TV. I opened up the "guest services directory" and a can top fell out.
The bed was stiff, warped, and uncomfortable.
Morning breakfast was acceptable--not too many choices, but fairly well set up. This was the one bright spot during my brief stay.
The room and interior of the hotel itself were dark, depressing, and dirty.
The piece de resistance for my stay was watching the cock roach run across the room mirror. I could not kill it in time, because it was too fast. Nice touch.
Cable TV had just a little over 10 channels (give or take).
Many of the guests were put up by American Airlines, that I could see. They mentioned similar, negative impressions of the Clarion that I experienced.
Avoid this hotel!
