Doubletree Buckhead - a solid 3-star hotel A review of DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Atlanta - Buckhead
I won this hotel on a recent Priceline bid, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I called a few days prior to arrival to see if I could request a Non-Smoking Room with two double beds. No problem at all. I also added my Hilton Honors # to the reservation.
Upon arrival, the front desk staff was very pleasant and informative. I was asked for a put down a cc for incidentals. Got two warm chocolate chip cookies and two keys. I got the exact type of room I had requested on a Hiltons Honors floor, the 5th floor. Room 532 was a ways down from the elevator (about half-way down the hallway). It was a fairly large room with a lovely spacious bathroom. I found the following little extras nice: a real cotton ragg rug in the bath, big bath sheet sized towels, plenty of washclothes, little extras like a sewing kit, makeup remover wipe, mouthwash, all Neutrogena products (including Rainbath shower/bath gel - normally you only get the shampoo, conditioner and lotion). The decor was very tasteful, taupe and cream and golds and cherry wood. The beds were very comfortable, and they did that little trick I love where they have a flat sheet on top of the blanket and beneath it...so that you don't have to touch the blanket while sleeping.
The hotel offered a lot of amenities including free shuttles service to any destination within a 3 mile radius of the hotel and free usage of the Crunch fitness center that was literally 500 steps from the hotel.
Although there was no fridge in the room and no food vending machines on any of floors, there was a little snack shop that was open til 11pm nightly (right off of the front desk). There was also an ATM on property, a nice bar and adjacent seating area (that was actually pretty popular on Fri. night), and this is the closest hotel to the Buckhead Marta station. Within walking distance, there was a Maggiano's Italian restaurant, a Corner Bakery cafe, a 6-theatre AMC (draft house style) Theatre, and a little shopping area called Tower Place (check out the following link for more information: www.towerplace.net/location.htm ).
I cannot comment on the hotel restaurants nor the cost of parking, since I didn't use those features of the hotel. Have no fear booking this hotel. Everthing was top notch.
