Don't waste your time or money A review of Grand Traverse Resort and Spa
We have been to the Grand Traverse Resort a few times and after each visit we come away disappointed but this last visit in August 2003 was by far the worst. We traveled with our three small children and our condo was not ready until after 7 p.m. despite several stops up at the front desk and a talk with the manager. No one apologized for the delay and inconvenience---in fact the only thing I was snottily told by a desk clerk was the "rooms are ready AFTER 4p.m. not BY 4 p.m." I specifically called down to the spa to see if they really did accomodate children like it said in the hotel brochure and was told yes. When I arrived with our two young daughters for a pedicure as a special treat, we were treated like second-class citizens because my girls were children and then I was told that they usually didn't "do" children! My pedicure was the worst I have ever had. The technician was sloppy and indifferent. Restaurant service was equally inept and housekeeping was late cleaning our condo every day. Several years ago, I would have rated this "resort" as average. After our experience there last summer, I would have to rate it as poor. We will stay at the Homestead in Glen Arbor, Michigan this summer instead. It's a little bit further of a drive for us but the service and atmosphere are much better.
