Don't Waste Your Money A review of Econo Lodge

This hotel is a huge waste of money. In May 2005, my family stayed at this hotel because I had researched it on the internet. Unfortunately I had not visited TripAdvisor's site before I booked this hotel.

When I arrived at the hotel I entered the lobby and the female clerk looked up but did not say anything or acknowledge me. I approached the desk and she still has not said anything. I told her that I was checking in and gave her my name. She turns around, grabs a tissue and blows her nose. Without washing her hands she asks me for my name again. I told her and she said that it would be $66.00. I asked her why it had changed from the $89.00 I was quoted on the phone. I asked if the room had a microwave and refrigerator, that was the description given when I booked the hotel. She said no. I told her that I had a confirmation number and that was the type of room I wanted. She said that she didn't know what to tell me. All during this conversation this woman is coming off as rude and snotty. Not once did she smile or apologize for the mix up. A male worker came up to the counter and proceeded to magically find a room with a fridge and microwave that was available.

When we entered our room it was extremely rundowm and unclean. The bathtub actually had pubic hairs in it. The Ramada web site describes this hotel as "newly renovated", I'm not sure what their defintion of that is. My daughter was anxious to go swimming so we went to the pool. The pool area is disgusting, there were several bugs floating in the water. It was late when we checked in and with two small children I was in no position to search out a new hotel.

When I checked out the next morning I told the worker that I was very unhappy with my stay. She said that I could write my concerns on a comment card. When she searched for a card she could not find one and told me to contact the 1-800 number. I have e-mailed the head office of Ramada but it has gone unanswered.

Please save your hard earned money and do not stay at this hotel.
